Very late entry to TheSchoolIdolCafe2018 wooooops

µ's Hotpot, Chun Chun Cheesecake, BokuHikari Milkshake

For the School Idol Cafe I decided to make some dishes inspired by the SIF main story Winter Wonderland (Chapter 15). In the story, µ's try to beat the winter cold by throwing a hotpot party... with unexpected results. Eventually they get it right in the end and share a delicious meal with each other before going out and having a snowball fight together.

I wanted to try and test myself and make something savoury and sweet, and this looked like the dish for it. First up, the µ's Hotpot!

The various members of µ's are asked to bring along some hotpot ingredients of their choice:

Honoka - meat

Eli - salmon, miso for the broth

Nozomi - tofu

Nico - fried tofu, shiitake mushrooms

Umi - green onions, mustard greens, spinach

Maki - tomatoes

Rin - ramen

The meats, tofu, mushrooms and vegetables are chopped into bite-sized portions so you can get a variety of flavours together.

The broth I put these in includes Eli's miso flavouring as well as mirin, cooking sake and dashi stock. The result was very tasty, a surprisingly clean-tasting and light meal for the amount of ingredients used.

Hanayo brought rice and eggs to the hotpot. With the leftover broth, you can add cooked rice and a beaten egg to create another dish called 'zosui'.

Now, we're missing somebody here... what did Kotori bring to the hotpot?

Ehhh?? Cheesecake?!?!

We can't add that into the hotpot!! ...but we can have it separate as our sweet dish :) Here's the Chun Chun Cheesecake!

I baked from scratch a vanilla New York cheesecake, similar to the kind Kotori would have tried in the Love Live movie. Hearts are drawn on the plate in strawberry coulis. Inside one of the hearts is a little bird made of whipped cream, with strawberry features and a mint leaf tail.

We've got some meals, but how about a drink? How about a BokuHikari Milkshake? Strawberry milk makes up the main portion, topped with whipped cream, pink petals made out of white chocolate that unfurl to reveal a white ice cream dome that has been decorated with sugar stars of all the µ's members image colours! They are arranged in a circle in the order of the girls' final leap of the Bokutachi wa Hitotsu no Hikari PV before the movie credits.
