Sorry for the long post, but I really want to win the cooking competition this year. I put so much work into it >~<

ALRIGHT, so here is my submission, Aqours Halloween cookies! I did my best to take good pictures, but alas, I am STILL no photographer. This has been a project a week in the making. I’ve had a super busy semester, trying to balance work and college. A lot of people do that, but it’s not something I’m used to because of my social anxiety. I have little free time, so I was glad I got to prepare this beforehand!

I made an Aqours rainbow cookie and didn’t want to leave out Muse, so I also did a Halloween logo for them. I tried to do a UR envelope by piping frosting, but it’s a bit messy.

A little proof that the cookies are edible. I used a food-safe marker for the black, and not to pat myself on the back too much, but… they’re really good. Also this is why the Muse logo isn’t in the top photo, I forgot to put a sign saying the contest and my name in at first. RIP Muse. Oops.

Yo(hane)shiko Chibi and Aqours bats! I wanted to have my best girl on a special cookie (though I should have made it neater) and also have something to represent all the girls since not everyone likes Guilty Kiss. Not my best, but I’m still happy with how they came out.

Guilty Kiss Halloween cookies! My favorite part of the whole thing, not gonna lie. I sketched out the pumpkins and coffins on Friday during class, and I’m so happy with how they came out- Yoshiko’s coffin especially. The coffin thing is kind of dark, but it’s Halloween and I think she would approve. I kind of wish I’d done a fourth one that said Yohane, but… it’s too late now.

NO ONE ASKED FOR IT BUT HERE’S MY PROCESS BECAUSE IT TOOK A LOT OF TIME: First I made the dough on Sunday, Oct 14. It took longer than expected because my mom neglected to tell me that we were out of flour and we had to run to the store. By the time I was finished, I didn’t have anywhere near enough time to do the rest, so I put it in the fridge and called it a night.

On Thursday Oct 18 I rolled them out and baked them. I actually bought some new cookie cutters to make them Halloween-themed because I’m super into Halloween. I cut them out and baked them and almost cried when I took them out because they were beautiful?

I flooded the cookies on Friday Oct 19, and this was something else. I’ve never worked with royal icing before, but I really wanted to try it. You can make really beautiful cookies with a little bit of practice, like last year’s winner, Hoshi. I put the icing together and separated parts for colors, then made separate black, white, and orange to make them more watery. The flooding part was easy, it was getting there that was a ton of work.

On Saturday night, Oct 20, I finally put the other icing into bags to do detail work (I also cut up the icing bags I had to make more of them and get the shape I wanted, I watched so many tutorials for this?).

Aqours rainbow of frosting ^.^

I finally finished them Sunday morning at 1:30 am, and took pictures after getting sleep and ironing the cloth I put on the table.

This whole thing was SO extra, but I’m really proud of what I made. A bunch of things could’ve gone wrong, but nothing did. The only problems I had were not having enough frosting to flood the bats (whoops) and not planning out the Yoshiko Chibi better (also whoops). It’s not professional-grade, but for never having used royal icing before I don’t think it’s bad at all. I planned a lot and worked really hard, so at the very least I hope people like seeing them and I wish I could share them with more than just my family and close friends >.<
