Extra: Kotone has an internet persona that goes by the name Otochii. What started out as a handle on messaging forums, eventually gained an impressive amount of popularity over time, which in turn had Otochi developing into a legitimate streamer that does hour long vlogs for her subscribers and fans twice a week. Seeing as she now relies on streaming for this "other self", Kotone changes her appearance for the sake of remaining unrecognizable... so, she rids herself of the blue scarf she wears almost everywhere, brushes back the hair that normally covers the left side of her face, puts on costume contacts (uses a different color during every stream), and switches out of her usual "cozy" style of dress (sweaters & cardigans) for cuter outfits put together.

She makes a deliberate point to avoid having others find out about her "secret identity", and plays it off as if she's simply another fan who watches her streams every once in awhile.

It's interesting to note that despite being comfortable enough to stream for fans, Kotone has legitimate stage fright and was quick to get dizzy+nauseous during some of the earliest on-stage practices for コハリ TOKYO if there were onlookers watching.

Introduction: Kotone is a fairly average, or so she tends to consider herself, second year student attending Tomodachi who is pursuing to further her interest in film and camera work. Given that both parents work in journalism (her father: photographer, mother: journalist), it went without saying that either one of those two things would rub off on her, and sure enough, it did... but expanded far beyond the first disposable camera bought for her at the konbini near their home. Kotone has a small collection of cameras and recorders that is steadily growing with the passing years, and her most recent birthday present is the video camera that she carries around with her at school for the sake of bettering her skills in the filming craft. She feels it's easier to socialize with peers she isn't familiar with when carrying either a recorder or camera along. After explaining her reasoning for having it with her, most are very willing to participate.

She's somewhat on the quiet side if you aren't someone she knows well, so the chances of receiving quick, but polite comments from her are high. Once you get a chance to know her better, and vice versa, Kotone open up, and her more outgoing side'll start worming it's way out.

Because of such, it's easy to fall under the assumption that she isn't much of a people person, which isn't the case at all. If you happen to see her interacting with the members of her Main Unit (Hanae and Ritsuka), her demeanor is much louder, but relaxed as she's in her comfort zone.

It took little to no push from Hanae to get Kotone to try out being a school idol, mainly because the dedication and hard work put into the music, choreography, performances, and costumes are honestly inspirational to her. While she wasn't an active follower of the rising popularity of school idols at first (mainly because she was focusing on her own interests), it became near impossible to be completely unaware of, and Kotone's intrigue with the amount of skill put into an "unofficial" profession flourished.

She wasn't sure how well she would fit the school idol image, but a lot of her self reassurances stems from her already having a side of her that gets reasonable attention, so maybe... just maybe... performing on stage will be as fun as her streams.

However!

Kotone's "secret identity" (as she likes to call it) as Otochii is a well kept secret that she has no plans of sharing with others. It started out as a username handle she chose for herself after her parents taught her how to use the computer they bought for work when she was in middle school. There were only a few message boards (focusing on her favorite films/shows/books/etc at the time) that Kotone was active on, and found comfort in being behind a screen, but still able to reach out to others and communicate with them. She made friends with people who shared similar interests, and ultimately gained a following through the photography and video work (both personal and fan) she uploaded. In due time, the attention and encouragement from forum friends led her to turning to steams as a means of broadening her communication with others to a "personal" level.

Taking up a "disguise" was easy enough, and the Otochii streams were started as a visible way to chat with old friends and possibly new ones too, and do the same as usual with exposing her work to those willing to watch.

The advice column aspect started at least a year or so after Kotone began her streams, due to messages sent by a forum friend during a particular difficult time in their life. She decided to take time out of her usual schedule to sit down, read over the messages, and reach out to that friend through the stream that week. While she expected a negative backlash for throwing viewers off, positive feedback was also a big contributor, as well as fans, friends, and anons asking if they could send similar questions.

And, that's all she wrote for Kotone's online life!
