Me, at 4 AM last night: i should really get to sleep before it gets any later...
My traitorous brain: think about these two new OCs that just popped into your head out of the blue while you were finishing up an outline
Me: well, that sounds reasonable!
...
So! I'm here to introduce Shizuka and Yoshie Kobayashi!
Their concept being that of a pair of twins who were sort of roped into becoming idol representatives for their school. To be exact, they attend an escalator school that had a nice handful of school idols among their roster. The groups would compete against one another during on-campus live shows and the top three victorious were allowed to take their shot at competing in the Love Live. Many of these girls eventually graduated or moved on to different opportunities as the years went on, so many groups either disbanded over time on lingered on until the remaining members graduated themselves.
Shizuka and Yoshie helped with stage support during middle school and mainly stuck to the control booth during performances. lending aid to a group that an upperclassman family friend was in throughout her time in high school. With the sisters now starting high school themselves, the 'manager' (he deals with the paperwork regarding potential on-campus live shows/events and getting approval from the director) of the now disbanded group their friend was part of (4 out of 6 members were 3rd years and the remaining two are 2nd years who weren't looking to continue it alone) reached out and asked to see if they'd be interested in forming a group. Since he remembered them from before.
They... honestly weren't (and still aren't completely 'gung ho' this. it was fun watching live performances at school and getting to see the dedication, but they definitely prefer the backstage stuff over this) but came to a mutual agreement that they felt sorry for the guy. Well, /pitied/ him more than anything. Shizuka and Yoshie didn't actually remember this 'manager' too well when he reintroduced himself. All they knew was that he was their upperclassman (2nd year) and inherited the position during his first year.
Upon their agreement, they formed the duo group by the name Linnaea, named after the Linnaea borealis species of plant that's commonly known as the 'Twinflower'. On stage, they play up the gimmick of being sisters who are ridiculously close and never have a shred of tension or strife with one another. They do the same with the 'outgoing twin vs the shy/quiet twin' trope through their mannerisms and vocals. An example being that Shizuka actually has a deeper singing voice like Yoshie, but she's made a point to sing at a higher, airier range to give them dueling harmonies. It causes her to get sore throats a lot more frequently.
