Once upon a time, when Love Live! School Idol Project first aired, I was scrolling through my (lame and abandoned) Tumblr feed when I spied me an angry looking black-haired twin-tailed girl pouting about something or other with a pissy expression on her face (who knows with Tumblr gifs, I see things, I like them, I reblog).

This expression looks just like my girlfriend! I thought to myself; And it also looks like an anime she'd like... I should show her this.

And I did, later that same day. I pulled it up and said, "I don't know what this is, but the animation is good and that girl made me think of you." After a pause, I added, "It doesn't look like my kind of thing, but I thought you'd probably like it enough to figure it out."

And she did! When I found out it was an idol show, I wrote Love Live! off as rubbish (I can be unreasonably snobbish with anime). I would peek in on her sometimes, to see what was going on and poke fun... But then something caught my attention.

"Wait... What's the name of their group?" I had only recognized the Greek letter, which I had seen before in my stats class but only heard pronounced as is -- "mu."

"μ's?"

"Okay, so hold on... That's the Greek letter for 'mu' and they added an 's' to make it sound like 'muse'? And how many of them are there??"

"There are nine of them."

I like clever things, guys. Besides recognizing μ, I also know about the Greek Muses and that there are nine of them. The combination of Greek letter, pronunciation, correct number of "muses," and the fact that they sing music blew my mind -- but it was still a silly idol show and I didn't pay much mind beyond that.

Then Love Live! School Idol Festival came out. I like rhythm games, guys...and so does my fiancée (the same girlfriend I mentioned before). I showed enough interest for her to entice me into playing a few songs on easy. Wow, these songs are catchy, I found myself thinking. I think I could get into this...

And the rest is history. My tsundere journey to the Love Live! fandom took quite some time, but I regret nothing. I love these desu girls.
